My mom’s early 90’s LC had its odometer break at 350,000 miles, and that was a few years ago. Still going, although not used quite as much— definitely one of the best vehicles ever made imo. Looove the accessories on yours!

24’ Land Cruiser current owners. How’s your daily driving experience when it comes to the gas-tank size

Main Post:

So I’ve been trying to understand how this truck works overall, specifically with the new hybrid power train and the small gas tank giving your 270 miles a full tank.

How in the world a brand new truck model gives you this humiliating mileage per tank? How much money will I be spending (in case I buy it) to refill the tank? Like, twice a day on a short trip? That’s crazy Ex: my current SUV makes around 440 miles a tank. A trip to Miami only uses 1/4. So let’s say both ways I only use half a tank or little over half a tank if I push the engine in the highway. This is expected from any vehicle. But the Land Cruiser with such a small tank means I need to refill almost the full tank one way and then another full tank (almost) on my way back! That’s insane.

I thought hybrids were supposed to help on the gas consumption too, but I see people are getting 17-19mpg, so I’m thinking this hybrid system was only designed for torque and overall power output rather than saving gas (?)

Just trying to understand and get everyone’s opinion on this new power train set up and why Toyota doesn’t offer a bigger tank, optional at least.

Thank you

Top Comment: Your buying a giant brick of an suv and your complaining about milage. This powertrain is built for torque not highway driving. It's ment to help the small engine were it would run out of torque. It's not designed like the rav 4 or even the highlanders where the hybrid system is ment to reduce consumption. I think the whole idea of highway driving a giant lumbering suv or truck is dumb regardless. But if your looking for longer drives between fill ups maybe consider a prius, corolla hv, camry hv or a rav 4. Before you give me this whole winy crap about "I'm a big person" I myself am 6'6" and daily drive a Toyota solara with the "big" v6 engine and if I want my tank to last I keep my foot out of it and reduce my speed from 80mph (which btw the solara was built for) To 65-70. It hums along just fine and I just don't think you realize how lead footed you are.

2024 Land Cruiser 26.6 MPG

Main Post: 2024 Land Cruiser 26.6 MPG

Top Comment: This is my round trip morning commute to work and back home. I normally get around 22 mpg average but I reset it every time I fill up my tank. 75% freeway, 55-65 mph. The hybrid battery kicks on when going slow or down a hill. Which helps with mpg big time. Nice feature. Haters will complain because it’s a 4 banger and I agree lol but it’s quick and fuel efficient. My 99 LC is feeling lonely.

24.7 million acres, about the same area as Kentucky or South Korea!
